The Eagles took the lead after striker Odsonne Edouard connected well with a Jordan Ayew cross to give the home side the lead.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then opened his account for Chelsea with a brilliant use of his body, before producing a thumping finish to level the game before Conor Gallagher, who broke into the England squad due to his form at Crystal Palace scored to break the Eagles heart.

Edouard Mendy, who is considered the number one at Stamford Bridge, has missed the last three games but is back to training and is chasing his 100th cap for the Blues against Milan.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has stepped in and done a decent job - although it remains to be seen if he will keep his spot now that Edouard Mendy is on his way back.

The good news is that the Senegal international is back in training and that will give the manager something to think about.

Then there is N’Golo Kante who has not kicked a ball since the derby against Tottenham due to a hamstring issue.

Chelsea play better with the midfielder in their side and there has been hope that he would be in the team for Palace, but a place on the bench against Milan to slowly introduce him is expected.

Then there is Marc Cucurella, who started the first game under Potter but missed the Palace win due to illness.

Reports in Spain say he has a throat issue though it is deemed not to be too serious and it wouldn’t be surprising if he was back in the squad in midweek.

Chelsea are without a win for their first two Champions League games and will be desperate to get going against AC Milan.
