Chelsea have yet another wonderkid in their sights ahead of the January transfer window as they are reportedly looking to add 17-year-old centre-back David Odogu to their ranks, according to The Sun.

The German youth international has yet to make a senior team appearance for Wolfsburg, but the Blues are nonetheless 'in talks' to secure a transfer for the player. It is unclear as to when they will be able to action a move for Odogu, but their interest in him remains apparent.

He is very tall for such a young player at 6ft 3 - as such, he is already capable of providing a commanding presence in the box. From a defensive standpoint, Chelsea have struggled this season in the Premier League, conceding 31 goals over the course of 20 games.

Which other wonderkids have Chelsea signed over the past year?

Ever since he took over at Chelsea from former owner Roman Abramovich, Todd Boehly's goal has been clear - he wants the Blues to own all of the world's leading young talents. In theory, under this initiative, Chelsea could have one of the strongest squads in world football in just a few short years.

They signed a slew of talents under the age of 20 in the 2023 summer transfer window, including Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu, Deivid Washington, Angelo and David Moreira. Other young talents, like Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer, were also brought to Stamford Bridge in a high-spending summer.

Should Odogu be snapped up in January, he would be the next in a long line of starlet at Chelsea. The Blues should be careful with this strategy - their squad is already bloated, with several quality players lost in the mix. They will need to manage their squad meticulously to make sure everyone is happy - and that their young players get enough time to develop their skills in the senior team.
