Chelsea 'submit offer' for Barcelona target as Tottenham sent transfer warning

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea and Tottenham ahead of the last round of games this side of 2024.

Chelsea and Tottenham have put together very different starts to the season so far. The Blues are currently down in 10th place and eight points off the top six, while Tottenham are in fifth spot, one point off the top four, albeit they have played a game more than Manchester City above them.

Mauricio Pochettino's men return to action on Saturday when they face Luton Town, while Tottenham have to wait until New Year's Eve to get back to action, welcoming Bournemouth to North London. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding both clubs.

Willian 'offer'

Chelsea are said to have 'submitted an offer' for reported Barcelona target Estevao Willian. The Palmeiras starlet has attracted plenty of interest after breaking into the first team at the age of 16.

Willian has a release clause worth around £54million, and Mundo Deportivo claim Chelsea have already made an offer, but it's not clear whether the offer is worth the release clause or anywhere close to it. The Blues have already spent a significant amount over the last 18 months or so.

Sutton's warning

Chris Sutton has sent a transfer warning to Tottenham in his latest round of BBC Sport predictions. He said: "What Arsenal do in January is going to be vital in deciding how they finish their season, but the same applies to Tottenham. Spurs’ defeat against Brighton was a sore one for manager Ange Postecoglou, who is without injured defender Cristian Romero for up to five weeks. He is such a key player, so that is a real stinker for them.

“Bournemouth, meanwhile, cannot stop winning. They are on fire, and so is Dominic Solanke with eight goals in seven games. I can’t see Spurs’ makeshift defence keeping him out, but they will come out on top. It might take a Postecoglou rocket to get them back on track, but they have plenty of creative players and can cut Bournemouth open.”
