Chelsea have reportedly looked at Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and Villarreal’s Yéremy Pino. The Blues have considered swooping for the midfield pair.

That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim the London outfit see the duo as ‘contingency plans’ with Mason Mount yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal. His current contract expires in 18 months’ time although Graham Potter’s side are ‘hopeful’ he will commit his future.

Pellegrini, 26, has been a key player for Roma since joining them in 2017 from Sassuolo. He is an important figure in ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho’s side and scored 14 goals in all competitions last term. The Italy international has chipped in with four so far this season.

Pino, on the other hand, has caught the eye playing in Spain. The 20-year-old is being tipped for a bright future in the game and is someone who Villarreal could face a battle to keep hold of in the future.

He has been on the books of the La Liga team since 2017 having previously been in the academy at Las Palmas. The Spain international, who has six caps under his belt to date, has already made 96 first-team appearances so far in his career and has chipped in with 15 goals.
