Chelsea handed fresh Romelu Lukaku transfer boost in shock twist to contract situation

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly open to holding talks with Romelu Lukaku to see if he has any intentions of staying at the club in case they can't offload him this season.

Inter Milan, where the Belgian spent last season on loan have pulled out of the race and Juventus who are still interested have to do some selling before they can afford him.

There is an offer from Saudi Arabia, but the former Manchester United forward is not interested in moving to the Arab country. Chelsea is still looking for a striker to complement Nicolas Jackson and bringing back Lukaku who is still the club’s highest earner could be the solution.

Pochettino told LondonWorld last week that there had been little development when asked about the situation of the £97.5million striker even though both parties were working to find a solution.

He said: “When this type of decision is [made, it is] because they all agree. The player and club are working hard to try and find the best solution.”

He continued: ”It is obvious the decision had been made on the side of the player also. We act in consequence of the decision. The club and player are in the position they wanted.”

Chelsea have only scored one goal in two games and conceded four in their first two games of the Premier League with forward Christopher Nkunku injured and Armando Broja working his way back from an ACL injury from last December.

Captain Reece James is also out for weeks after picking up a hamstring injury he picked up against Liverpool.
