Chelsea set to make 'fresh bid' for attacker amid Premier League competition

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea as they prepare to face West Ham on deadline day.

Chelsea are now focusing on Monday night’s Premier League clash with London rivals West Ham, although that’s not their only big event on Monday night. The Blues must also negotiate the winter transfer deadline on Monday night as well as a matchday, something Enzo Maresca won’t be too pleased about.

Over the coming days, the Blues will be both preparing for both the Hammers clash while also looking to sign new players and offload current stars. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho bid

Chelsea are said to be preparing a fresh bid for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho ahead of the deadline. The Blues have been linked with the winger throughout this window, and their bid to land an attacker looks as though it will go to the end of the window.

Garnacho is reportedly valued at £80million by United, and it’s unclear if Chelsea will go anywhere near that fee. But L’Equipe say the Blues will test United’s resolve with a fresh bid before the deadline.

Tel chase

Chelsea are said to be one of a number of clubs chasing Bayern Munich star Mathys Tel ahead of Monday night’s deadline. The Blues have been keeping an eye on possible attacking recruits all month, and Tel is a player they like the look of, according to ESPN.

But it’s claimed Tottenham and many others are said to be interested in the Bayern Munich star, who has a reported asking price of more than £40million. It’s claimed as many as seven clubs from across Europe are expressing an interest in the versatile attacker who can play out wide or centrally.

Luiz on Palmer

Former Chelsea favourite David Luiz has compared Cole Palmer to Eden Hazard when speaking about Chelsea’s current crop of players. “Cole, like Eden, is on another level, he’s a world-class player,” Luiz told The Sun. “He took a tough decision to leave Man City and it was the right one for him. Everybody can now see the amazing player that he is.

“I’m enjoying seeing him play. He’s intelligent and intelligent players are difficult to defend. He’d have played in my 2012 and 2017 teams — for world-class players there’s always a place.”
