Chelsea fans are being given the chance to spend the night under the stars in the Stamford Bridge East Stand next month.

Up to 100 supporters will rock up at the stadium with a sleeping bag and pillow in hand to get some shut-eye overlooking the iconic pitch.

The stand is undercover, providing some shelter from the elements, but there are no heaters on offer meaning that participants will only have the heat of their blanket through the night in March.

The event has been organised by the Chelsea Supporters Trust and aims to raise money for homeless, disabled and vulnerable veterans through the charity Stoll.

The group has organised security to keep fans safe during the event, as well as free parking, hot drinks and breakfast in the morning. In case any fans are thinking of it as a chance to party all night at the ground, the Trust has confirmed that there is a strict alcohol ban.

Any Chelsea fan is invited to take part on Saturday, March 25. The date lands during the international break, so there is no match at the ground that day.

There are spaces for up to 100 people to sleep in the East Stand with spots free to reserve. The only condition is that those taking part raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship for Stoll.

The charity takes care of veterans living with physical injuries and mental health conditions that often are a result of their service. The group also helps veterans tackle drug and alcohol additions.

Speaking about last year's event, Stoll Fundraising Coordinator Jill Taylor said: “The money raised from last year’s The Big Stamford Bridge Sleep Out was incredible – and made a real impact on the support we were able to offer our Veterans.

“We are looking forward to working with the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust – and everyone taking part in this year’s event and on behalf of everyone at Stoll I would like to say a huge thank you.”
