Chelsea’s decision to pull out of the deal for Andre Onana is proving to be ideal with the former Inter Milan struggling at Old Trafford in both the Champions League and the Premier League.

Chelsea decided to bring Robert Sanchez is proving a success with the former Brighton and Hove Albion man being decent even if his passing and build-up play could be better.

Sanchez has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League can any other goalkeeper and his performances in games against Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Fulham have been incredibly encouraging as the Blues begin to pick up points and form.

Chelsea had been in the race to sign Onana who helped Inter Milan to the Champions League final but he’s conceded 18 goals in the 11 games he’s played for Manchester United and kept only four clean sheets with the team losing their opening two Champions League games.

The Cameroon international made a poor pass in a sign of things to come and he was at fault for the penalty which saw Casemiro sent off, playing a pass straight to Dries Mertens.

Onana was shaky throughout, flapping at a cross that skidded off the turf and going down far too early and allowing Icardi’s fairly weak dink to float over his head and into the net.

Chelsea fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to experess their delight affter the game with some saying Chelsea dodged a bullet.
