Armando Broja’s return could lead to Chelsea changing their search for a striker in the winter transfer window with manager Mauricio Pochettino already reminding everyone not to forget about him even when he was injured.

With an all-round display, Broja reminded everyone of his strength in his first start in 10 months at Fulham’s Craven Cottage. He missed a chance he created for himself early on but as has been the case throughout his career, he recovered superbly to get his goal.

Beyond the goal, he was a great link to the team and left the pitch having given his all and receiving the applause of the travelling fans.

The win was the first time Chelsea had beaten a team ahead of them in the league table this year and brought to light Pochettino's prediction that fans should not forget about the Albanian even when he wasn't playing.

The Chelsea boss said: “We are keeping one or two eyes on Armando Broja because I think we cannot forget him.

“We really believe in him. He can be a really important striker for Chelsea.”

Chelsea had been hitting the right notes in chances created and dominating games, but just could not find the back of the net which made it quite a challenging start to the season and life for Pochettino.

But the win against West London rivals Fulham could be the night where everything clicked, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has now moved on to be one of the top goalkeepers with three clean sheets as evidence of the strength of the team.

On a perfect night, the win was Pochettino’s first away from home and incredibly the first time a game between Chelsea and Fulham played on a Monday night having a winner with all the three before that ending in a draw.
