Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys is reportedly joining SC Paderborn on loan. The youngster is poised to make the move over to Germany for the second-half of the season.

Chelsea had a decision to make as to where to send the defender this winter. Huddersfield Town were linked with a swoop, as covered by Yorkshire Live, whilst Football Insider claimed ‘multiple’ Championship and League One clubs were keen.

Humphreys, 19, has been on the books of the Blues since 2017 having previously been in the academy at Reading. He penned his first professional contract at Stamford Bridge in October 2021 and has trained regularly with the first-team since then.

He was handed his senior debut by Graham Potter in January in their FA Cup loss away at Manchester City. The England youth international is now heading overseas to Paderborn to continue his development.

In other Chelsea news, Turkish club Adana Demirspor have made an offer to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko, as per the Daily Mail. The midfielder remains out on loan at AC Milan.
