Chelsea vs Crystal Palace final injury news as 10 ruled out and 2 doubts
The final Chelsea vs Crystal Palace injury update after the pre-match press conferences.
The new Premier League season kicks off this weekend, and we will be treated to an all-London affair on Sunday when FA Cup and Community Shield winners Crystal Palace take on FIFA Club World Cup winners Chelsea.

Both clubs have had feel-good summers due to their success off the pitch, and it will be interesting to see how each of them are looking on day one. Here we round up all the final injury news surrounding both cubs after each of the managerial press conferences.
Daichi Kamada - Out
Kamada is a fresh blow after the Community Shield. Glasner has confirmed: "Daichi Kamada is out for Chelsea game. Let's see if he's available for Fredrikstad on Thursday night. It will be quite tight, but he will be definitely out for Chelsea.”
Chadi Riad - Out
Glasner has confirmed: “We think Chadi will return after his ACL [injury] in October or November. Now it looks like the timeline of Cheicky is more or less the same.” Riad suffered a serious knee injury early in the new year.
Cheick Doucoure - Out
The same update was issued of Doucoure, who is bidding to return from a serious injury.
Eddie Nketiah - Out
Nketiah is going be out until late September to October with a hamstring issue. Glasner confirmed: in his pre-match press conference: "No player is returning from injury so not Eddie Nketiah, not Matheus França because he can't train with the team at the moment, not Caleb Kporha. Of course, Cheick Doucouré and Chadi Riad are out for the next couple of months. The group we have is not the biggest one (in terms of numbers) but we showed at Wembley - where we had to substitute Daichi Kamada after 20 minutes - that the next one comes in and the team is able to win games. This is how we will go to Stamford Bridge on Sunday."
Matheus Franca - Out
Franca will be back at the end of this month. Glasner confirmed: “Matheus, it's more the adductor muscle - it's not his groin where he had his troubles [last season]. But let's see. He should return, maybe in 10 days, but he missed pre-season, and this is a little bit tricky.”
Caleb Kporha - Out
Glasner has said: “Caleb has problems with his back and is not able to train and has been out the whole pre-season - we don’t know when he will return.”
Trevoh Chalobah - Fit
There were fears that Chalobah had suffered an ankle injury, but Maresca confirmed otherwise, saying: “It was just too hot for him [against AC Milan].”
Benoit Badiashile - Out
Badiashile has a small injury issue that will keep him out for at least a couple of weeks. This one will come too soon. Maresca has confirmed that he is 'in the process of coming back'.
Romero Lavia - Out
Lavia will not return just yet. Like Badiashile, Maresca has said Lavia is in the process of working his way back to full fitness.
Wesley Fofana - Doubt
Fofana is close to returning from his long-term knee issue. He has been pushing to return from his long-term knee issue here, but Maresca said on Thursday that a last-minute decision will be made over whether he can play this weekend.
Dario Essugo - Doubt
Maresca said during the early stages of the summer: “Dario had a muscle problem yesterday during the session, so he is going to be ready for next season.” He will go down as a doubt due to Maresca not providing an update on Thursday.
Levi Colwill - Out
Colwill has been ruled out for much of - if not all of - the season after an ACL injury. Maresca said in his pre-match press conference: “He is ok, aware he will be out for a long time,' Maresca said. 'It’s a big loss for us. You know how important Levi has been for us last season and the way we want to play. We have said many times that we are able to create chances and attack if we’re able to build up the right way, and Levi was a huge part of our build-up.”
Myhailo Mudryk - Out (Suspended)
Mudryk remains suspended due to alleged doping. A statement at the time read: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
