Chelsea's staggering FIFA Club World Cup prize money and how much extra final is worth

Chelsea will bag some serious cash after reaching the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Chelsea have earned a staggering amount of money from their efforts in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup. The Blues have had an unusually busy summer due to being involved in the competition, battling it out for glory in the United States.

It was unclear how seriously the European sides in particular would take the competition in its new format, but across the board, clubs have put out strong XIs in a bid to advance in the tournament. Enzo Maresca was clear from the off that Chelsea would do their best to win the whole thing, and his strategy has worked up to this point.

Chelsea are now through to the final on Sunday, where they will take on PSG in New Jersey. MetLife Stadium, which will also host the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, will play host to the final. As the Blues look to win the first ever Club World Cup in its new format, how much money have they earned, and how much could they earn in total?

Each European club involved in the competition receives between $12.81-38.19million, and Chelsea are believed to be close to the top of that scale, given them a payment near $38.19million. Their two group stage wins got them an extra $4million. Their qualification for the Round of 16 got them an additional $7.5million.

After beating Benfica in the quarter-final, Chelsea added $13.125million to their winnings pot, and their Palmeiras win bagged them $21million. This week’s Fluminense victory secured Chelsea a guaranteed $30million for reaching the final, and there is only one additional fee left up for grabs.

The winner of the Club World Cup will receive $40million, while the runner-up won’t get any additional fee on top of the $30million received by both clubs for reaching the final two. In all, based on the estimated participation fee Chelsea are receiving, the Blues will get $113.81million for their efforts so far, which works out as £83.7million. On top of that, if Chelsea were to win the competition, they would add £29.45million to their prize pot, meaning a potential winnings of $115.81million or £85.26million.

What Enzo Maresca said after Fluminense win

Chelsea boss Maresca said after the semi-final win over Fluminense: “We started one way, they changed a little bit, so we adjusted immediately. The players dealt with all the conditions – the weather and other things – in a brilliant way. In some moments, we were able to maintain a high tempo; it was not possible to maintain for 95 minutes because of the weather. But they handled it in a fantastic way.”

He added: “We knew against a low block that Joao (Pedro) was going to help us because he has quality in the last third against teams that defend deep. He showed today how good he is, but it’s just the beginning. We knew already how good Joao is. Today, he was playing a little deep, and we know how good he is at dropping and linking [with his team-mates]. He is very good technically in small spaces, and that’s why we decided to bring him here.”
