Chelsea have racked up eight points so far and will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Manchester United here, while Brighton have five points and gave away a two-goal lead to draw with Tottenham last time out. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding the two sides heading into this one.

Adam Webster - Out

Webster is out for much of the season with a serious knee injury. Fabian Hurzeler said at the time: “Adam suffered a knee ligament injury during training last week, and he will undergo surgery in the coming weeks... It’s too early to put a timescale on his recovery period, but it’s fair to say he will miss a large part of the season.”

Solly March - Out

March will be out for much of the calendar year. Hurzeler said last week: “I think he's not that close that we can say he will be back in two or three weeks. He is working quite hard - doing step after step - but he's still not on the pitch. We see some good progress, so we are very convinced that we will see him back this year, but I can't give a schedule [for] when it will be.”

Jack Hinshelwood - Out

Hinshelwood will be out until some time in November. Hurzeler has said: “Unfortunately, we had two injuries in the game vs AFCB. Jack will be out for a long time. It is not perfect - he has a ligament injury. It happened in a very unlucky way - stepping on Evanilson's hand - but that is football, and we have to accept it.”

Maxim De Cuyper - Doubt

De Cuyper could return here, with Hurzeler saying last week: “It is not a big injury. It was a contact injury - after colliding with the advertising hoardings - and we will see how he is ahead of the match.”

Liam Delap - Out

Maresca said of Delap just over a week ago: “Liam is around 10-12 weeks, so a long way to go.”

Benoit Badiashile - Out

Badiashile will likely be back in early October. Maresca said this week: “[Benoit and Romeo] will not be back for this game, unfortunately. They both took part in the session yesterday, which is good news, and hopefully they can be available soon.”

Romeo Lavia - Out

The same goes for Liavia, who is on a very similar timeline.

Cole Palmer - Fit

Palmer will be available here despite Maresca admitting that he is managing the attacker’s minutes. he said during the week: “Cole is probably the only one that we need to assess a little bit. He already made a huge effort last Saturday. He was not 100%, but he wanted to be there to help his teammates. It was painful [for him], so we decided to change. We await day by day to see how he is.”

Marc Guiu - Doubt

Guiu missed out during the week with an injury that will make him a doubt for the weekend. Maresca explained: “The reason why is because yesterday in the game preparation, he felt something, nothing important, but with Liam Delap already out, we did not want to take a risk. So tonight, we give Ty (George) and Jamie (Gittens) a chance.'”

Levi Colwill - Out

Colwill has been ruled out for much of the season after an ACL injury. Maresca said: “He is ok, aware he will be out for a long time. It’s a big loss for us. You know how important Levi has been for us last season and the way we want to play. We have said many times that we are able to create chances and attack if we’re able to build up the right way, and Levi was a huge part of our build-up.”

Myhailo Mudryk - Out (Suspended)

Mudryk remains suspended due to alleged doping. A statement at the time read: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”

Dario Essugo - Out

Essugo has undergone surgery and will miss around four months of action. A club statement read: “Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action, and Dario will now begin his recovery at Cobham, supported by the club's medical department.”
