Why Carney Chukwuemeka did not even make the bench for Chelsea vs Gent Europa Conference League game

Chelsea vs Gent Europa Conference League game had one big omission in yet another brutal call.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca showed his brutal side by omitting midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from the team that is taking on Belgian side Gent in the Europa Conference League. The Chelsea boss made wholesale changes to the team, including starts for Cesare Casadei and Dewsbury Hall, but there was no place for Carney.

The midfielder was also one of the late introductions in the game against League One side Barrow, and his latest omission comes days after the manager confirmed that it would have been better for him to take up the option of going out on loan.

Maresca said when asked about the player who was signed two years ago for £20 million and was tipped to be a future star: "I will say exactly the same thing I have said many times: Carney is a very good player, but given the number of players we have, we decided at the beginning of the season it was probably better for him to leave and go somewhere, prove himself, and play 30 or 35 games rather than be here and play fewer games. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. He is our player. He had some minutes the other day; today he was not involved. Hopefully, we can give him more minutes."

Chelsea's Team for the Home Game Against Gent

The Blues have hit form and are expected to dominate the game, with the manager giving rest to the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez. Bir Jorgensen is in goal, with Disasi back in the team, alongside Badiashile, Adarabioyo, and Renato Veiga. In midfield, we have Dewsbury Hall, Casadei, and Felix, with a front line of Nkunku, Mudryk, and Neto.
