With only a few days to go until squad submission deadlines need to be handed in, Charlton may well eye the free agent pool

Charlton have had an exceptionally busy summer in the transfer market, bringing in nine new stars to the Valley Stadium and going on to win three of their four opening fixtures in League One.

This is set to be a promotion-pushing campaign, with Nathan Jones hopeful the club will remain competitive at the top of the league and, as such, signed a host of former Premier League and Championship stars to their squad.

However, with just a few days left before EFL squad submission forms need to be handed in, there are still plenty of options in the free agent pool if Jones wished to strengthen even further. Here are some of the highest valued free agents still up for grabs...

Ovie Ejaria

Last club: Reading

The midfielder has been without a club since January but boasts a youth career with both Arsenal and Liverpool. He was reported to have gone on trial with Plymouth Argyle but continues to remain without a club.

Scott Hogan

Last club: Birmingham City

The ex-Aston Villa forward parted ways with Birmingham in July. He made nearly 150 league appearances for the club. The 32-year-old also has 12 Republic of Ireland caps to his name.

Brahima Diarra

21-year-old Diarra left Huddersfield Town at the conclusion of his contract, following four years with the side. Diarra also picked up League Two experience after a six-month loan spell with Harrogate Town in 2022.

Tyler Blackett

Last club: Rotherham United

Blackett, 30, would bring with him a wide-range of EFL experience, including a spell at Manchester United. Following a recent stint with Rotherham United, the defender remains a free agent but the one-time England youth international still has plenty to offer.

Marko Marosi

Last club: Shrewsbury Town

The Slovakian goalkeeper became a free agent in the summer after leaving Shrewsbury Town. The 30-year-old is still yet to make an EFL appearance but played in Doncaster Rovers’ FA Cup third round replay in 2015. He would provide a useful third option keeper for any clubs still on the hunt.

Declan John

Last club: Bolton

Welsh international John left Bolton Wanderers, following a season-long loan spell with Salford City. The left wing-back would bring with him experience from Cardiff City, Rangers and Swansea City to boost any League One’s side ranks.

Sam Clucas

Last club: Rotherham United

33-year-old Clucas was most recently part of Rotherham’s set-up but was released after the side were relegated at the end of last season. The midfielder has previously worked with Hull City, Swansea City and Stoke City.

Rekeem Harper

Last club: Burton Albion

Midfielder Harper continues to find himself without a club after being let go from Burton Albion in the summer. Only 24-years-old, Harper has played for West Brom, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Ipswich Town to name a few. He also has ten youth appearances for England.

Timothy Eyoma

Last club: Lincoln City

Eyoma, 24, can double as a right-back and centre-back. He was recently with Lincoln City following a youth career with Tottenham Hotspur, with whom he was with for three years of his senior career too.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson

Last club: Bolton

Icelandic star Bodvarsson left Bolton on the conclusion of his contract. He has previous EFL experience with Wolves, Reading and Milwall as well as 64 international appearances, playing in Iceland’s infamous last 16 win over England in the 2016 Euros tournament.

Nesta Guinness Walker

Last club: Reading

The 24-year-old left-back parted ways with Reading following a spell at Stevenage on loan in 2024. The defender enjoyed youth spells with Chelsea and Spurs before joining AFC Wimbledon in 2019, with whom he made over 80 league appearances.
