Huddersfield Town confirm contract news
Huddersfield Town will welcome Charlton Athletic this weekend buoyed by news that midfielder David Kasumu has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2027.
The 25-year-old is a linchpin in Michael Duff's midfield and has made 10 appearances in League One this season. The former MK Dons man arrived at the side in 2022 and has made 78 appearances for the club.
The club confirmed news of the contract extension this week ahead of facing Charlton Athletic on Saturday. A statement on the club website described the player as 'an anchor in central areas to break up play whilst giving the defence an additional layer of protection in transition'.

A hard working, honest player with huge room to grow, we believe that he can take on additional responsibility going forward whilst becoming an even better player.
“We’ve spoken a lot about people making shirts their own this season with good competition for places, and David has done exactly that. His attitude, intensity and work rate can never be questioned, and while there are areas of his game that we can refine, it’s all things we think he’s more than capable of learning and taking on board.
“Entering a really important part of his career, I’m excited to work more with David and do what I can to help him become the player we’re all aware he has the potential to be.”

The outlet adds that on three separate visits in December 2023 and May 2024, the council had considered noise level as 'statutory nuisance'. Neighbours have requested that the club's licence for regulated entertainment is either revoked or that a 'string of conditions' are implemented.
Birmingham City sent fresh summer spending jibe
Birmingham City were the big spenders in League One this summer with over £20 million splurged on transfers following relegation to the Championship, including a record fee for Fulham man Jay Stansfield.
Even as December approaches, that spending remains the talking topic of the division. Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones spoke of the outlay when facing the Blues and now Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield has given his opinion.

In an effort to cool down title-chasing hope, Bloomfield told The Telegraph: “I’ve been at this level long enough to know that the guys with the biggest budgets usually finish at the top. They can recruit the best players and have the biggest squads. You would still expect Birmingham and Wrexham to be right up the top of the league, but for us it’s an incredible challenge.”
