Charlton Athletic's 16 summer exits' start to life at Birmingham City, Derby County and more reviewed


A busy summer of transfer activity for Charlton Athletic continued past Deadline Day into last week as the London outfit recruited former Luton Town man Dan Potts to The Valley to be reunited with Nathan Jones.
The Addicks boss had outlined his hopes for a proactive window at the end of the 2023/24 campaign and has certainly been granted that by Charlton Athletic with 10 new faces coming in through the doors.

Hide AdTo make space for all those arrivals, there was also somewhat of a mass exodus from The Valley with a total of 16 players leaving to find new challenges. LondonWorld looks at how those former Charlton Athletic stars have got on in the first weeks of the new season.
Alfie May, Birmingham City
The striker left Charlton Athletic to join the League One rivals this summer for £750,000 having finished last season as the division's top scorer. The 31-year-old has started where he left off with four goals so far this term, already putting him top of the goalscoring charts.
Corey Blackett-Taylor, Derby County
The winger joined Derby on a free transfer having spent the back end of last season on loan with the Rams. The 26-year-old is yet to feature this season with a mix of fitness issues and competition for places.
George Dobson, Wrexham


Signed a three-year deal with newly promoted Wrexham this summer having pulled out of a move to Hungarian side Fehérvár. Dobson was reunited with former Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson and has played every minute of the League One campaign so far with one assist to his name.

Hide AdJack Payne, Colchester United
It's been an impressive start to life in League Two for the 29-year-old. Payne has one goal and two assists to his name so far this term despite Colchester winning just one of their opening five fixtures.
Diallang Jaiyesimi, Leyton Orient
Spent last season on loan at St Johnstone and moved on to Leyton Orient, signing a two-year deal this summer. Has made four league appearances for the club, including a cameo against the Addicks. He did assist the O's only goal in an impressive Carabao Cup win over Millwall last month.
Terell Thomas, Carlisle United


A regular at the heart of defence for Charlton Athletic last season but left the club in the summer and found a new home at Carlisle United in League Two. Thomas' new side currently sit 22nd in the fourth tier with four defeats from five - the defender has made four appearances in all competitions so far.
Lewis Ward, AFC Wimbledon
Never made an Addicks appearance in his very brief time at the club this year. Signed for AFC Wimbledon this summer and has enjoyed one outing - a 1-0 EFL Trophy win over Wycombe Wanderers.

Hide AdRichard Chin, Farnborough
Charlton Athletic youngster was released by the club at the age of 21 following loans at Dartford and Bath City. The midfielder has mad five National League South appearances this term after managing a total of 18 first team outings for the Addicks.
Harry Isted, Burton Albion
Joined League One rivals Burton for an undisclosed fee with the hopes of a greater chance of game time following the arrival of Will Mannion. The 27-year-old started the first League One game of the season, a 3-2 home defeat to Lincoln City, but was on the bench for Burton's next three fixtures which all ended in draws.
Conor McGrandles, Lincoln City
Another player who made the switch to a League One rival. McGrandles joined Lincoln City for an undisclosed fee having spent the back end of last season on loan with the side but has made just one appearance this term.
Lucas Ness, Notts County


Sold to Notts County in League Two for an undisclosed fee towards the end of August. Is yet to feature for the club.

Hide AdAaron Henry, Rochdale United
Completed a loan move to Rochdale United in July as the 20-year-old seeks more experience. He's already picked up a goal and assist, both in a 3-0 win against Woking at the end of August, in his seven National League outings.
Scott Fraser, Michael Hector, Connor Wickham and Kazenga LuaLua are all still without clubs having left Charlton Athletic as free agents this summer. When confirming the release list at the end of last season, the club said: "Everyone at the club would like to thank every player who is leaving for their efforts during their time at Charlton and wish them the very best of luck for the future."
