One of Crystal Palace’s loan exitees has been speaking about his decision over his loan destination in the summer.

Crystal Palace star Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has opened up on his decision to reject a move to Leeds United during the summer transfer window. The winger instead decided to join Sheffield United on a loan deal, with QPR also having been linked with a move for the youngster.

The 21-year-old has already racked up four appearances across all competitions for the Blades, who have picked up six points from their first four Championship outings. Chris Wilder will be hoping to lead his men to some sort of promotion push this season following relegation from the Premier League, with a playoff push most likely.

Interestingly, though, Rak-Sakyi had the chance to join Leeds, where he would likely have had the opportunity to compete for automatic promotion, with the Yorkshire giants the favourites to win the league. The Whites lost Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter during the summer window, and Rak-Sakyi was eyed as potential temporary solution.

But he instead chose to join Sheffield United, recently revealing: “My agent made me aware of the interest from them and I knew it was a big club. But the manager here spoke to me and I was really impressed with what he said and the plans he had for me. So that made me decide to come here.

“It's a big challenge, going to somewhere that's ambitious rather than being mid-table or fighting to stay up. But I wanted to go to a club with ambition because I'm ambitious myself. So I think it was a good choice. It's tough to move away [from his native London] but I'm growing up now and you're not always going to be at home. So it's about adapting to the situation you're in and making the best of it.” Wilder appears to have been key in securing Rak-Sakyi’s services, while QPR would have liked to have added his pace out wide. The 21-year-old scored 15 goals in 43 league appearances for Charlton Athletic in League One last season, and there is already plenty of excitement over his future at Selhurst Park.
