Charlton Athletic player ratings - 'Hero' 9/10 and 'impressive' 8 in derby win over Leyton Orient
The Addicks look a tough team to beat this season with a second league win on the bounce to start the campaign for the first time since 2019.
Charlton Athletic made it two wins from two in League One this season with another determined showing against London rivals Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Having seen Wigan Athletic dictate the play last weekend, the Addicks set about seeking control against their London rivals with new signing Luke Berry keen to get on the ball and dictate play. A bitty and physical opening quarter to the League One fixture saw few chances for either side at The Valley.
Charlton Athletic full-back Josh Edwards was again hugely impressive on the left flank, causing all sorts of problems for Orient defender and former Charlton man Sean Clare, who landed a hefty sliding challenge on the Scotsman as he broke after 23 minutes. A nasty blow, Edwards had to be stretchered off the pitch in what could be a real blow to Nathan Jones.
The best chance of the first half did fall to the visitors, Macaulay Gillesphey slipping under a lobbed ball and giving the in-form Charlie Kelman a good chance, but the QPR loanee couldn't hit the target.
It was Charlton Athletic who controlled the tempo after the break with Conor Coventry growing into the game but a lack of quality service made it possession without threat, the closest moment coming from a very long range Kayne Ramsay blast.
The breakthrough for Jones' side came in the dying moments as Aneke leapt to knock a header into the path of Berry. The star, who was playing Premier League football last season, didn't need a second invitation to poke home past Zach Hemming.
Here's how the Charlton Athletic players ranked against Leyton Orient as they added another three points to their tally.
GK - Will Mannion, 7
Easy afternoon for the shot-stopper. Two clean sheets in his first two league outings.
LWB - Josh Edwards, 9
The most impressive Charlton Athletic player on the pitch in his 20 minutes. Sean Clare did not know how to cope with his pace and ended up putting in a reckless challenge that saw the new Addicks signing stretchered off the pitch. The 24-year-old is clearly a real talent and any period on the sidelines will be a blow for the Addicks.
CB - Macaulay Gillesphey, 7
Hard to criticise an Addicks defence that rarely looked threatened by their London rivals. Gillesphey did slip when covering a ball that led to a dangerous Kelman chance but a solid all around showing.
CB - Lloyd Jones, 8
A physical and dominant performance at the heart of the defence. A great start to the season for Jones.
CB - Alex Mitchell, 8
Also comfortable as part of the three centre-backs who mopped up well all day.
RWB - Kayne Ramsay, 7
Charlton Athletic are a better side going forwards when Ramsay gets involved. Perhaps didn't do that as much as the team would have hoped today but did come close with a shot from distance in the second half.
CM - Luke Berry, 9

Was keen to be the midfield metronome for the Addicks today. The former Luton Town man has a quality that is certainly ready to impress in League One. With his experience, there's no-one Charlton fans would rather have seen the ball drop to in injury time and he slotted home with aplomb like a hero. With more time among teammates, his influence will continue to grow.
CM - Conor Coventry, 6
Grew into the game but delivery sometimes lacked quality, especially from set plays.

CM - Greg Docherty, 7
So much to like about the summer signing with another battling performance. Had a real desire to make things happen, even if he couldn't quite manage that today.
ST - Tyreece Campbell, 8

Hugely impressive shift from the forward. Campbell's pace and strength made him the most likely man to cause problems for Orient, turning the big visiting defenders with ease.
ST - Gassan Ahadme, 5
A frustrated figure today. The talisman wasn't really fed in the way he would have liked and was up against two physical Leyton Orient centre-backs.
SUB - Thierry Small, 7
Didn't cause as many problems as Edwards did but was a pretty decent showing from the bench. Has plenty of pace and looked to get the ball into the box, even if the quality was sometimes lacking on the delivery.
SUB - Chuks Aneke, 8
Involved straight away from the bench with his fresh legs allowing him to break through the Orient defence, but a heavy touch saw that decent chance come to nothing. Perhaps should have had a late penalty when pulled down by Beckles in the penalty box but persevered and won the header to tee up Berry.
SUB - Matty Godden, 8
Neat work to slot Aneke though in his first brief competitive outing for Charlton. Fouled multiple times by Orient players as they struggled to keep up.
