Latest news emerges regarding this Brentford-linked ace

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has said the club will make a decision on Jacob Greaves’ future in the summer if bids come in from Premier League clubs. The highly-rated defender has been linked with top flight trio Brentford, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest in the next transfer window.

The 22-year-old is under contract at the MKM Stadium until June 2026 meaning his current club are under no pressure to cash in on him. He is able to play at both centre-back and left-back.

Brentford could see him as someone to bolster their defensive department down the line. The Bees raided the Tigers last year to lure winger Keane Lewis-Potter down to London.

Rosenior has had his say on Greaves’ transfer links, as per a report by Hull Live: “It’s wonderful that a player who has come through our academy has been spoken about in this way. I love it when my players are being linked with clubs higher up because it means they’re doing a good job and it means the team is doing a good job.

“Jacob’s an outstanding player. Would I rather have him here from a footballing point of view? One hundred percent, because he’s got so much potential and so much to learn.

“Every single club has to make a decision based on their best interests. Sometimes that’s keeping a player and sometimes that’s selling a player and I’m sure we’ll make that decision whenever that comes up.”

He added: “He’s brilliant. He’s naturally an outstanding player. He’s captain when Lewie’s (Coyle) not on the pitch, he’s got a lot of potential, he understands the game.

“His dad (Mark) was a player and I always think that helps players when their parents, mother or father were involved in football - their understanding and development is really, really quick.

“I love working with him and I want him to be a part of my plans. I think he’s got a lot of potential and the way we play suits him down to the ground. We’ll see in the summer what comes of that.”

Greaves has risen up through the youth ranks of his local team and has become one of Hull’s most prized assets. He also had a loan spell away at Cheltenham Town a few seasons ago to gain some experience. Time will tell whether Brentford make a swoop for him but they may have to see off competition from elsewhere for his signature.
