Brentford vs Everton injury news: 13 players ruled out with 4 in doubt for Premier League clash

Brentford welcome Everton to the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday night.

Brentford will look to follow up consecutive Premier League wins with a game against Everton this week, as they welcome the Toffees to London on Wednesday night.

Thomas Frank’s side won 4-0 against Leicester in their last match, when Yoane Wissa, Christian Norgaard, Fabio Carvalho and Bryan Mbeumo scored for Brentford. Reports emerged last week that Brentford could sell the latter, who has been subject to transfer interest from Newcastle United.

It left them 11th in the Premier League, looking to get back into the top 10 this week on Wednesday night against an in-form Everton side.

Everton injury news

Everton have nine players that could miss the game this week with six already ruled out. Firstly, Orel Mangala is out and won’t return until well into next season, as he is dealing with a knee injury. Dwight McNeil remains in recovery from a knee issue too, as he looks set to return in April as things stand. Defender Seamus Coleman is also out and is working to get back before the end of the year.

David Moyes said last week: “I would absolutely hope [he will return before the end of the season] because I'd like that for many reasons. The first thing Seamus has to do is get himself back fit.”

Starman Iliman Ndiaye continues to recover from a knee injury, and is looking at a return in March time. Moyes said: “Iliman has been taking injections, and we're quite positive... we're hoping we can get him back maybe [earlier] than the time we though.”

The game will also come too soon for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is working towards a return at the start of March. Armando Broja is also on a similar timeline to Calvert-Lewin as he is recovering from an ankle issue.

Defender Nathan Patterson is a doubt for the game, as he is back on grass as he looks to recover from his hamstring injury. He has an outside chance to return on Wednesday as Moyes said: “Nathan has come out on the grass the past couple of days, but we think it's just too soon for him. He's making some progress.”

Striker Youssef Chermiti could make a return from his hamstring injury. Although it has been a long-term recovery, Moyes will likely be cautious and not rush the attacker back. Jesper Lindstrom is dealing with an illness and could be ready on Wednesday, he is currently being assessed ahead of the game.

Brentford injury news

Brentford meanwhile have seven players ruled out with just one doubt for the game against Everton.

Firstly, Gustavo Gomes is still not back in training as he recovers from a long-term back injury. Aaron Hickey and Josh DaSilva are also both out with injuries that they have been dealing with all season long. The pair are hoping to return before the end of the season, but they could miss the remainder of the year.

Igor Rodrigues is back in training as he recovers from a knee injury, he is looking at coming back early in April. The Everton game will also come too soon for Sepp van den Berg, who has a knee issue.

Frank said last week: “Sepp got a minor knee injury... It’s good news. You’re always a little bit worried with the knee, but it’s a minor one and we’re talking about weeks instead of months. How many weeks? It depends on how quickly he is recovering.”

Rico Henry has been plagued by injury this season, and he suffered a setback in his hamstring issue. He is expected to return early in March and has been ruled out of the Everton game. Mathias Jensen has also been ruled out with a groin injury. Frank said: “He's got a minor adductor injury, unfortunately. Wednesday will be too soon, but we’ll see beyond that.”

Finally, Christian Norgaard could miss the game on Wednesday as he is dealing with an illness, which forced Frank to substitute him off against Leicester on Friday night. The Brentford boss said: “He didn't feel that well at half-time. It was the right decision.”
