The Brentford star has scored 15 goals and contributed four assists for Thomas Frank’s side this season.

Brentford will be tasked yet again this summer with trying to keep hold of their best players in the transfer window, as they look to continue developing under manager Thomas Frank.

The Bees sit 11th in the Premier League table, but have seen their form fluctuate lately, as they begin to settle for mid-table obscurity this season.

Last summer, Ivan Toney was the big transfer story at Brentford as he ended up leaving for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, where he has scored 16 goals in 26 games for the club.

However, this summer, the likes of Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo could generate a lot of transfer interest from fellow Premier League clubs, and Brentford will need to fight to keep hold of them.

Newcastle’s major boost in pursuit of Mbuemo

One club that has been linked with Mbuemo is Newcastle United, who are seventh in the Premier League table. They had been linked with him in January, but didn’t make a move. However, according to a new report, Mbuemo is considered to be Newcastle’s top target at the winger position. Former Premier League scout Mick Brown says that the Magpies are likely to make a move for him in summer.

He told Football Insider: “I hear Newcastle are going to try for Bryan Mbeumo,” he told Football Insider. Brentford are going to ask for £50 million, and it seems to me that would be a reasonable price.

“A lot will depend on Newcastle’s financial situation, but I expect they will know what they can and can’t spend and then they’ll adjust accordingly.”

If Brentford were to sell Mbeumo for £50 million in the summer transfer window, it may not be Newcastle that is the club to move for him. Arsenal and Manchester United have both also been linked with the Cameroonian, so it could become a case of first come first served.

Wissa wanted by Tottenham and Nottingham Forest

If keeping Mbeumo could be a challenge, Frank certainly won’t want to lose striker Yoane Wissa too, who generated transfer interest in the January window. The Congolese striker became the club’s record Premier League goalscorer this season, as he has netted 37 goals in the competition. This season, Wissa has made 23 Premier League appearances, scoring 12 goals.

He was subject to a transfer bid from Nottingham Forest in the January window, but it has also been said that Tottenham are interested, as they look to add to their striker line-up in their long-term replacement of Harry Kane.

Forest saw a £22 million bid for Wissa rejected, so any summer transfer move may have to be upwards of £30m to tempt Brentford to sell. However, if Mbeumo leaves in the summer, it would be unlikely that the Bees offload both of their star attackers. In other news, Tottenham could be set to make a summer transfer offer for a La Liga title contending midfielder.
