Brentford are being linked with a move for Hamburg defender Mario Vuskovic.

The Bees are believed to be admirers of the young centre-back.

Vuskovic, 20, only made his move to the Volksparkstadion a permanent one earlier this year.

However, his side could face a battle to keep hold of him already amid interest from elsewhere.

The Hamburger Morgenpost report that Brentford have joined fellow Premier League side Wolves (interest also reported last week by the same source) and some Bundesliga clubs in pursuit of the Croatia youth international.

Thomas Frank’s side are now said to have ‘signalled concrete interest’ in the player.

Who is Vuskovic?

Vuskovic started his career at local side RNK Split before linking up with Hadjuk Split. He then rose up through the youth ranks there and broke into their first-team in 2019.

The 6ft 2inc man went on to play 42 times for the Croatian top flight side before Hamburg swooped to land him on loan in the last campaign.

He then did enough with the German club to earn himself a move there full-time in March.

Brentford have so far signed Aaron Hickey, Keane Lewis-Potter and Thomas Strakosha as their prepare for their second year in the Premier League under Frank. Could Vuskovic be their next target now?
