A marquee Brentford move for Club Brugge striker Antonio Nusa is set to collapse this month after concerns brought up during the player's medical with the Bees.

The West London outfit were ready to fork out a club record £31.5 million for the promising 18-year-old, who is thought to have a very bright future ahead of him. The striker has already been capped by the Norwegian national side and has also been linked with a move to Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur this month.

The Evening Standard reports that the teenager has been sent back to Belgium after his medical with Brentford worried about some results from that test. As they seek clarity, the transfer is set to be postponed until the summer as the club also looks for a discount on the initial price given complications.

While that may come as a disappointment to Bees supporters, it had been thought that any agreement would have still seen the youngster loaned back to Club Brugge until the end of the campaign rather than coming straight into Thomas Frank's side.

Brentford have engaged in conversation with Club Brugge and the Norwegian Football Federation over the medical. Nusa has missed nine fixtures in all competitions for Brugge this season due to a back injury.

Frank will still be happy with the club's business so far this month. Full-back Sergio Reguilon has arrived on loan from Spurs and already made his debut. Elsewhere, Yunus Emre Konak and Hakon Valdimarsson have joined the club.

As it stands, Brentford are also set to keep hold of goalscorer Ivan Toney, which is another major coup for the club. The talisman had been linked with a £100 million move to Arsenal and Chelsea but Brentford had shared their determination to hold onto the player this month.

Toney was on the scoresheet last night in the 3-2 defeat to Spurs, making it two in two after his return from an eight-month ban. Thomas Frank is set to speak to the media at 2 pm today.
