The Bees played two separate starting XIs in both halves as they look to help all their players get back up to speed but decided not to rush new signings Keane Lewis-Potter or Thomas Strakosha into the action.

New defensive addition Aaron Hickey did play the first 45 minutes though.

Brentford led at half-time after Bryan Mbeumo’s goal, only for their Bundesliga opponents to turn the game around in the second-half through goals from Lilian Egloff and Tanguy Coulibaly.

No Lewis-Potter

Frank decided against throwing Lewis-Potter into the team.

The attacker only completed his move from Championship side Hull City this week.

He played for the Tigers last weekend in Turkey away at Fenerbahce before travelling back to complete his switch to the Brentford Community Stadium.

The 21-year-old then met up with his new teammates in Germany (see tweet below):

Today’s clash against Stuttgart came too early for him but upcoming clashes against other Europeans sides like Strasbourg, Wolfsburg and Real Betis could provide him with chances to play.

B team action

Brentford B team were also in action against Maidenhead United today but lost 1-0.

Neil MacFarlane’s side have been boosted by the additions of Yehor Yarmolyuk, Max Dickov and Kyreece Lisbie over recent times.
