Latest news on the injury front regarding Brentford as they prepare for the weekend

Brenford’s Frank Onyeka made a significant step on his road to recovery by playing an hour for the B team earlier this week. The midfielder is currently fighting back from a hamstring injury.

He hasn’t played since before the World Cup but is closing in on his return to Premier League action. The Nigeria international managed to get on the scoresheet against Wealdstone on Tuesday evening along with Romeo Beckham (see below).

Brentford signed Oneyka in the summer of 2021 to provide more competition and depth to their midfield department. He has since made 37 appearances for the London club in all competitions, 12 of which have come this term before his injury.

Prior to his switch to the Gtech Community Stadium, he was on the books at FC Midtjylland. He played 123 times for the Danish outfit and scored 17 goals to earn a move to England.

Brentford won’t want to rush him back into the action and have plenty of other options to choose from in the middle of the park in the meantime. They are back in action at home to Crystal Palace this weekend but it may still come too soon for Onyeka, with building up more fitness and game time with the B team likely to be on the agenda.
