Brentford are reportedly keeping tabs on Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand. The Bees are being linked with the former Denmark youth international.

According Gazetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Thomas Frank’s side ‘follow’ the progress of the Serie A man, with fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, Roma, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart mentioned as other interested parties. However, the report suggests he will not leave in the upcoming January transfer window.

Hjulmand, 23, joined Lecce in January 2021 and has since adapted well to life at Stadio Via del mare. Prior to his move to Italy, he spent time in the academy at FC Copenhagen before a two year spell in Austria with Admira Wacker as a youngster.

He helped his current club gain promotion from Serie B in his first season at the club and has since stepped up to the plate in the top flight. The Copenhagen-born man has made 15 appearances in all competitions this term and has chipped in with three assists.

He is a new name to have emerged on Brentford’s radar and the Bees have a break from the action now for the World Cup. They picked up a stunning 2-1 away win at Manchester City last time out.
