Manchester United and Bayern Munich were reportedly showing interest in him and despite a strong start to last season, a calf injury dimmed his light and reduced his impact.

The midfielder did show signs of getting back to his creative best towards the end of last season, and with the Gunners looking to bolster their squad for both the Premier League and Europa League, he’s been linked with a move to the Emirates again.

What Youri Tielemans said while on international duty

With the summer transfer window officially opening in 24 hours, the midfielder was asked if he would consider swapping Leicester for London.

He told the press: “That [a move] is not out of the question. But I can also stay. I feel very good at Leicester.

“Of course, you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.

“You change because there is a great project on the table. For a player, the most important thing is to play.

“It’ll be up to me to make the right decision regarding my future this summer, but now, I’m relaxed and focusing on the Red Devils [Belgium].”

Arsenal looked thin when star midfielder Thomas Partey got injured at Selhurst Park and manager Mikel Arteta decided to play Granit Xhaka as a left back.

Mohamed Elneny stepped up but there is no doubting that the addition of a player like Youri Tielemans would instantly improve the quality in the team.
