Leandro Trossard hailed the “resilience” shown by Arsenal after they recovered from back-to-back defeats to win 2-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Gunners’ season looked heading in one direction following a loss to Aston Villa. Being dumped out of the Champions League days later sent alarm bells ringing around North London but Mikel Arteta’s men recovered at Molineux.

With Liverpool playing tomorrow and Manchester City in FA Cup action this weekend, an Arsenal win regained top spot. Trossard’s scruffy shot found the back of the net to open the scoring just before half-time, with Martin Odegaard securing the three points in stoppage time.

Arsenal now prepare for a crunch week where they take on London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur with their title dreams on the line. Speaking post-match, Trossard praised his teammates’ mentality - and insisted the Gunners can go all the way.

“We are really pleased with that,” the Belgian told Sky Sports, with Arsenal now a point clear of Man City. “Obviously, we wanted that response. It was a brilliant win, we controlled most of the game. (We scored) two great goals and a clean sheet so we’re really pleased. We could have scored more, especially in the first half.

“The resilience has been brilliant. It’s always tough when you lose games, especially after the run we had. Then it’s up to the boys to show great character and mentality. We did that today. All we can do is win our own games and focus on ourselves. Then, we’ll see what happens.”
