Arsenal are in pursuit of a top four spot, and if they do land a Champions League place, Arteta will want to strengthen specific areas to ensure his side is ready for the premier European competition.

One of those positions is midfield, and Wolves star Neves is understood to be on the shortlist ahead of the summer. Here is what we know so far about the potential transfer.

Arsenal interest in Neves transfer

The Gunners continue to be linked with a move for Neves, and the latest report claims they are ‘keeping tabs’ on the midfielder.

According to 90min, the Portuguese star is ‘ready to leave’ Wolves, and he is attracting plenty of interest ahead of this summer.

The Gunners are said to be one of the interested parties, but it seems they joined by Tottenham and Manchester United in expressing an interest.

Neves’ transfer price tag

Wolves boss Bruno Lage has placed a huge price tag on Neves.

“We need to wait for an offer, we don’t have anything, we need to wait for an offer and understand what (will) really happen. What is good for the club, good for the player,” he has said.

“For me, it is clear, if I want to work with Ruben, yes. If you ask the player if he wants to work for me, for sure he will say yes. But this is football and you never know what can happen in the next day.

“We can prepare the best strategy, for what we want, that is the best players on the pitch. I don’t have any problem with anyone in that position but if I have everyone available I will pick Ruben. It is clear because that’s what I did since the first day.

“He can give us a different dimension. He is a big player and our first choice for that position. We need to be ready for everything. A player like Ruben Neves has a value of £100m. Anything can happen, not just with Ruben.”

No offers

In his latest update, Lage has said there has been no offer for Neves yet.

“We need to wait for an offer, we don’t have nothing, we need to wait for an offer and understand what (will) really happen. What is good for the club, good for the player,” he added.
