Pep Guardiola has praied Arsenal amid their superb start to the season.

The Gunners have stunned most by storming to the top of the Premier League and staying there, failing two win just two of their 13 games so far, losing only once. Arsenal narrowly defeated Chelsea last weekend to remain top spot, and if they can see off Wolves on Saturday, they will stay top going into the more than month-long World Cup break.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have been battling away just below the Gunners, two points worse off but yet to play against the leaders. Guardiola’s men have had a very solid start so far, winning all but three of their games so far and losing once. City have won all of their last three Premier League outings, but they are still looking up at Arsenal.

The champions still have plenty of time come out on top, but for now, they can only do their job and hope Arsenal slip up. In the meantime, Guardiola has been praising the Gunners for their efforts so far this season.

“We could be top of the league! But Arsenal have been exceptional,” he said in his latest press conference. “I think yesterday one guy on my staff told me that we had more points in the Premier League [at this stage of the season] than I think in the last four seasons!

“So that means we have been really good, but another team has been better. We have to accept it. This is the level, the bar, the standards.”

Regardless of the weekend’s results, Arsenal and City are likely to go into the break with very little between them, and they still have to play twice this season due to a postponed fixture earlier in the season. But for now, it’s advantage Arsenal as they continue their superb start.
