Arsenal are now closing in on the signing of Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus, and two pundits have had their say.

Mikel Arteta needs more fire power up top if his side are going to go one better than the season just gone to reach the Champions League.
Arsenal also have the added commitment of the Europa League in the coming campaign, so adding the experienced goalscorer is a shrewd move.

And former Gunner turned Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is very impressed.
“I like what Arsenal have done to get that over the line,” he said.

“If they can get into the Champions League and have a good cup run - the Europa is winnable - with the squad they’re building they’ve got a chance of getting some silverware this season.”
Meanwhile, former City star Ditemar Hamann can’t believe his former side would sanction a deal, even with the arrival of Haaland.

“If you look at Gabriel Jesus’ stats, they’re brilliant. He’s scored a lot of goals for them, so I’m surprised he’s been allowed to leave.”
Both former players clearly see Jesus’ value, and there’s no doubting Arsenal will instantly look stronger after this signing is completed.
The Gunners can also count on Eddie Nketiah for next season, with the youngster penning a new deal following a fine end to the season.
