Gabriel Jesus will become Arsenal’s highest earner when he completes his move from Manchester City to Arsenal this week, insiders have claimed.

The Brazilian, who was signed from Palmeiras in 2016 to replace Sergio Aguero, will become Arsenal’s new number nine with a reported £250,000-a-week wages.

That figure will surpass the £220,000-a-week-wages that Ghana international Thomas Partey is currently on, according to a report on Arsenal Insider.

Manchester City have added the highly sought-after Erling Haaland and the powerful Argentine Julián Álvarez to the squad, which essentially pushed Jesus down the pecking order.

The move to Arsenal makes sense for everyone, with the player getting the big lead role he has always craved for since arriving in England.

Manchester City will get close to £50million in a transfer fee, which will help balance their books while Arsenal get a goal scorer in his prime.

Gabriel Jesus has scored 58 goals and provided 32 assists for the Citizens in just 159 Premier League matches, and was the man who scored the all-important goal that City needed to become point centurions against Southampton in 2018.

The Brazilian had been linked to Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea and there had been reports that Juventus and Real Madrid were monitoring his situation, but having worked with Mikel Arteta during his time at Manchester it was Arsenal who got the deal across the line.

His arrival at the Emirates makes him the fourth signing for the Gunners this summer, who narrowly missed out on Champions League football to Spurs after they signed Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.
