Arsenal linked with one final transfer window move as former Gunners target set to join ex-Manchester City and Liverpool stars

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing ‘one more’ addition to their squad with the transfer window closing in just four days time. Mikel Arteta has overseen a fairly quiet summer of spending, bringing in David Raya on a permanent basis from Brentford and signing Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

It is believed the Mikel Merino’s move to the Emirates will soon be confirmed, after he was reported to have undergone a medical over the weekend, and now Fabrizio Romano has added that it is the ‘intention’ of the Emirates club to bring in another forward star.

Throughout the transfer window, Arsenal have been linked with numerous strikers, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and the now-Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee. However, there is one star who, despite seeing his name linked with Arsenal several times over the summer, is not set to be making a move to N7 as the latest reports see the forward having agreed a transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

According to GiveMeSport, Brentford striker and England international Ivan Toney has agreed personal terms with Al-Ahli. The Saudi Pro League vice-chairman Saad Al-Lazeez and the division’s sporting director Michael Emenalo are also reported to be in London, completing the final details of the deal. The 28-year-old was once again left out of his side’s Premier League fixture, with the Bees losing 2-0 to Liverpool, as the ongoing speculation around his Gtech Community Stadium departure continues.

Toney’s impending move to the Middle East appeared to be the final indicator that Arteta was happy with his chosen forward-options, despite the recent injury set-back Gabriel Jesus is now suffering.

When asked after his side’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park about the transfer speculation, Arteta said: “We are really happy with the squad we have. It is true we have an injury with Gabriel Jesus as well and we missed him. If we can do something we will do it but at the moment we love the ones we have, they are really, really good.”

Following up from the Spaniard’s statement, however, transfer specialist Romano believes there could still be one more addition to come this summer and, taking to his Playback channel, the Italian sports Journalist “The intention of Arsenal remains to add one more offensive player. I don’t think it’s going to be a player like Nico Williams,” he said.

“At the moment, this is described as unlikely as he intends to stay at Athletic Bilbao. But Arsenal will be one of the clubs to watch.”
