Arsenal are on the hunt for a new striker this transfer season. Despite scoring 90 goals in the Premier League alone in the 2023/24 campaign, Mikel Arteta is hopeful of signing an out-and-out striker that can help guide the Gunners to their first Premier League title in over 20 years.
While names such as Joshua Zirkzee, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko have all been linked, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak was another figure heavily linked with a move down to the capital this summer. The Swedish striker has scored 21 goals in the Premier League alone this season, contributing a further two assists, making him an enticing prospect for the N7 club.

However, Isak has provided his own update on the ongoing speculation surrounding a potential transfer which will not be well-received in north London or at the Calatan giants.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, the striker said: “I’m really, really happy at Newcastle. I had my best season of my career. You can’t underestimate that. I love everything about the club, the fans, the city. I don’t really have any thoughts of moving or anything like that.”
Newcastle are on club that will soon need to address the books ahead of June 30th’s Financial Fair Play regulations deadline but the Swedish international has insisted that, even with the Profit and Sustainability rules to consider, he is not set to be a casualty.
“It is not something I am speculating on,’ he replied. “Within the team and the club there has been no talk or drama around it. I have not received any information from the club that they would need to sell me.”

“It has been good, especially the second part of the season” the 24-year-old continued. “I had some niggles and injuries for the first period,’ he continued. It was a bit difficult to find my flow, but in the last few months I have played regularly and gained continuity. It has shown in the performances as well.”
Isak’s certainty of remaining in the Toon will be a huge blow to both Arteta and Barcelona’s new head coach Hansi Flick, with the former now likely to prioritise signing Bologna’s Zirkzee, RB Leipzig’s Sesko, Sporting Lisbon’s Gyokeres or Napoli’s Victor Osimhen whose links with Arsenal have resurfaced in recent days.
