Arsenal face Serie A battle of in-form La Liga winger

Arsenal are on the hunt for a new striker this summer transfer window with the Gunners eyeing moves for Bolgona’s Joshua Zirkzee, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko while the more recent reports indicate a resurgent interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, Mikel Arteta is not just to be satisfied with merely a change upfront as the latest news now indicates that Arsenal have been ‘in touch’ with Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov’s entourage about the potential to move to N7 this summer.

According to AS, via SportWitness, the Gunners are now turning their attention to the Ukrainian winger and could well be set for a battle with Serie A’s AC Milan. The story adds that Tsygankov has found himself ‘in the world showcase’ after he hugely impressed for the Spanish club last season, scoring eight goals and seven assists in 30 games, helping them qualify for next season’s Champions League.

His form has subsequently seen interest in him rise distinctly but while the 27-year-old winger focuses on the upcoming European Championships - having already featured in his nation’s 0-0 draw against Germany yesterday - his agent is reportedly not to bother him with transfer talk.

Arsenal and AC Milan are, however, two clubs working behind the scenes with Gunners having already ‘approached and probed’ Tsygankov’s agents about a potential move this summer. The agents have subsequently been told that if the Ukrainian is to leave the La Liga club, which is not a certainty, he will need Champions League football - a feat that Arsenal have already guaranteed.

It’s also reported that the Gunners head coach is ‘in love with the player’ and believes he could fit into the club’s set-up perfectly ahead of the 2024/25 title-chasing campaign.

Girona are hopeful of keeping hold of their player having began contract extension talks in January as well as increasing his release clause, which is set at €30m (£25.5m). This, however, did not reach a conclusion.
