Arsenal must defeat German giants Bayern Munich at their home ground this week to progress to the Champions League semi finals but are handed a boost as the hosts are dealing with a mini injury crisis.

Serge Gnarby, who grabbed a goal against his former club at the Emirates Stadium last week, is set to miss out of the second leg. The 28-year-old won't feature for Bayern Munich in a significant blow for Thomas Tuchel.

The German international was substituted against Arsenal last week in the 70th minute having picked up a hamstring injury. Bayern confirmed the injury in a short statement which read: "FC Bayern must do without Serge Gnabry for the time being. The winger suffered a muscle strain in his left hamstring in the 2-2 draw at Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final first leg, as confirmed by a scan by the FC Bayern medical department."

Gnabry, who made 18 appearances for the Arsenal first team between 2012 and 2016, has endured an injury-ridden campaign. Bayern Munich are also set to be without Kingsley Coman for the Champions League second leg.

The 27-year-old was withdrawn in the 50th minute as Bayer beat FC Koln 2-0 at the weekend. After the match, Tuchel said: "The big downside to the whole game is the injury to Kingsley Coman. It makes me very sad because I know how hard he worked and how important he is for us.

"First Serge Gnabry is out, then he [Coman] and Leroy Sane are doubts [for Wednesday]."

Meanwhile, Alphonso Davies will miss the meeting at the Allianz through suspension but Manuel Neuer could feature again having been rested at the weekend as Bayern manage his return from injury.

Thomas Muller was asked about the host's injury issues ahead of Arsenal and said: "It's not the first time in my time here that we lost important players towards the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Champions League, that was the case with Rib [Ribery] and Rob [Robben] from time to time."
