"For a reason" - Harry Kane makes Arsenal claim as Arteta and Tuchel fume over penalty decisions

The former Tottenham striker scored a penalty on his return to Emirates Stadium in a thrilling clash.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane singled out Gabriel Jesus for praise after the Brazilian helped create an equaliser for Arsenal against the Germans in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Kane, who has a long history of scoring goals against Arsenal for Tottenham, netted from the penalty spot as Bayern drew 2-2 with the Gunners at Emirates Stadium.

Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard scored for Mikel Arteta’s side in an enthralling encounter which included penalty shouts for both teams.

"It was a tough game,” said Kane.

“[Gabriel] Jesus is really dangerous in the box with the chop he has.

“My last season at Tottenham they [Arsenal] were really strong. They're a really good team. They're top of the Premier League for a reason."

"Having no fans here tonight was tough. Having a full stadium [next week] will push us on.

"We had a big chance to go 3-1 up but Leroy [Sane] didn't put it away unfortunately.

"It's been an amazing experience in Germany personally. To see a different culture and a different league. The league is gone this season but I am there for a long time.

"You saw a real determined team today. We had to show togetherness and show fight. Today was small step in the right direction."

Kane admitted he watched clips of goalkeeper David Raya’s penalty saves against Porto in order to prepare for a potential penalty situation.

"It was one of them where I did a bit of research on what he did against Porto," he added. "He really gets to the corners early so I had to change my style a bit but that's part of it."

“It was nice to see him go early and make it easy for me.”

Meanwhile, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel believes his side should have been awarded a penalty after Gabriel appeared to pick the ball up in the penalty box.

"It was a goal kick off, the goalkeeper passed to a central defender and one touched the ball with the hand because he thought it was not in game but it was in game and the referee admitted it was in game and was handball. Very frustrating.

"We were relentless and kept on believing and kept fighting. Everything is open now."

Gunners boss Arteta also insists his team should have had a penalty after Saka was clipped by Manuel Neuer in the final seconds of the game.

When asked what the officials said to him, Arteta revealed:

"Nothing. "They didn't say anything. "They said they checked it and decided it wasn't a penalty."
