Arsenal are back in Premier League action this weekend

Arsenal ended up having a quiet month in the January transfer window. They opted to stick with what they have got until the summer.

The Gunners decided not to splash big money on anyone and will wait until later this year to do some more business. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently sat in 2nd place in the Premier League table.

They are six points behind Liverpool at the top. The London outfit have played one more game than Arne Slot’s side as well.

Leicester City injury latest ahead of Arsenal visit

Starting with the hosts for the weekend, Leicester City will need to assess Jamie Vardy, Victor Kristiansen and Jannik Vestergaard as they prepare to face Arsenal. The Foxes lost 2-1 against Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford last time out.

The Foxes are without defender Ricardo Pereira. Ruud van Nistelrooy has recently said: “He is recovering. He’s still in individual training with the physios. He’s moved outside to do that part on the grass with physios. His rehab is going according to plan.”

Issahaku Fatawu is also sidelined with a long-term knee injury which isn’t ideal. His boss has said: “We know what we’re looking at with a cruciate injury, how long it will take. He is taking steps. We know the length of the injury; it’s not on the short term.”

Arsenal injury updates ahead of Leicester City clash

Arsenal will have to make checks on Gabriel Martinelli. He picked up an issue with his hamstring against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup last time out.

The Gunners still don’t have Takehiro Tomiyasu or Ben White available just yet due to their knee injuries. Regarding the latter, Arteta has shared this update regarding his situation: “He hasn't trained with the team yet, but I think he's very close to doing that. He still needs to tick a few boxes in the next two or three days. If that's going well and smoothly, I think he'll be with us pretty soon.”

In addition, Bukayo Saka will remain in the treatment room until March at the very least. Arteta said in late January: “No, that's not going to change [three months]. It's within the process. He's doing really well; he's feeling better day by day, but we have to respect the healing process... he has a lot of stages to go through in his rehab.”

Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus is also unavailable to play right now after suffering an ACL injury. He is out for a long-term basis which is a blow. A club statement read earlier this winter: “Further to being substituted during our match with Man United, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the ACL in his left knee.”

Arsenal are a bit short of options, especially at the top end of the pitch with Saka and Jesus out. They decided not to bring in any reinforcements in that area last month which has raised eyebrows among their fan base.
