The summer transfer business is now done and dusted after the window slammed shut on Friday night. Focus now shifts completely back to the Premier League as Arsenal prepare to host Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday.

Both sides have strengthened their squads well over the summer and this upcoming clash will definitely deliver some prime entertainment. But before the two English powerhouses lock horns, let’s take a look at the latest injury updates for both sides.

The Gunners were dealt a hefty blow at the start of the season when brand new signing Jurriën Timber was forced off in his first Premier League appearance against Nottingham Forest. After it was confirmed to be a dreaded ACL injury, the left-back will spend the majority of the season out of action. Timber joins Mohamed Elneny on the sidelines, who is also still out with a knee injury.

Aside from the two long-term injuries, Mikel Arteta will have a full selection available ahead of United. Both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko returned to action off the bench recently and both are in contention to start on Sunday. Arsenal have also been handed a boost as rumours of a potential injury to Eddie Nketiah have been debunked by football.london. Takehiro Tomiyasu is also able to return after serving his one-match suspension following his sending off against Crystal Palace.

Man Utd injury news

United are in a much tougher situation as they head into Sunday’s clash. Long-term absentees Tom Heaton (calf), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Kobbie Mainoo (foot) and Amad Diallo (knee) remain unavailable but some fresh injury woes have also reared their heads recently.

Luke Shaw and new signing Mason Mount are ruled out, with the latter’s thigh problem expected to keep him out until the international break. Shaw is “expected to be out of action for a number of weeks” and Erik ten Hag has said it will likely be a longer absence than Mount. To make matters worse, United have also lost Raphael Varane, who was subbed off last weekend against Nottingham Forest and is set to miss the Arsenal clash.

However, the Reds have been given a slight boost as ten Hag confirmed new signing Rasmus Højlund is fit to play on Sunday.
