Manchester United have confirmed another deadline day signing ahead of this weekend’s clash with Arsenal

It has been a busy deadline day for the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag finding himself short of depth late in the window. United spent significantly with the signings of Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and Andre Onana, but they have still been left chasing deals on the final day of the transfer window.

Veteran Jonny Evans was snapped up ahead of the deadline after Ten Hag was left with just three fit senior centre-backs following Raphael Varane’s injury setback.

Sergio Reguilon followed on a loan deal from Tottenham, with United needing to manage finances carefully amid Financial Fair Play issues. The deadline business didn’t end there, either. Ten Hag managed to add depth to the heart of his midfield with the signing of Fiorentina and Morocco star Sofyan Amrabat, again on loan.

Amrabat has joined on a pricey loan fee worth £8.6million, while the clubs have also agreed a £17.1million option to buy plus a further £4.3million in add-ons. That could take the total value of the deal to near enough £30million if Amrabat winds up joining permanently.

Speaking about the deal, Amrabat said: “It is a huge honour to become a Manchester United player. I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams. I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team. I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players. His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career

“I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season.”

Amrabat was one of the breakout stars at the World Cup last winter, playing a key role in Morocco’s run to the semi-finals. He now links up with United to offer further depth in the midfield holding roles, along with Casemiro and Scott McTominay. He will need international clearance, but Amrabat may be in with a chance of being included in United’s squad for Sunday’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
