Arsenal have conceded just three goals in their last seven Premier League games, and only one of those from open play.

The case for the defence is strong at the Emirates, as Mikel Arteta’s side push on to grab that last Champions League qualifying place in the league.

In a week when Manchester United suffered back-to-back draws, Spurs lost at home to Southampton and Wolves and West Ham drew with struggling Leicester, Arteta’s team got the job done against Wolves.

The reward is a nine-day break to work on the training pitch, with Arsenal not playing at the weekend as Chelsea are involved in the Club World Cup.

The chase for the top four promises to remain fraught but if the Gunners can hang in there and nick it, it could prove the making of the current side and help in recruiting forwards in the summer.

The Gunners now have three games in hand on London rivals the Irons and two on Manchester United.
