The January transfer window saw a number of Arsenal defenders depart the club, with Pablo Mari joining Udinese on loan, while Calum Chambers and Sead Kolasinac both left on free transfers.

Another defender is now being linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium, with Kieran Tierney a rumoured target for Real Madrid.

El Espanol have reported that the La Liga giants are eyeing a summer move for the left-back to provide Ferland Mendy with some competition.

Tierney has become a fan favourite since he joined the Gunners in 2019 and the supporters certainly won’t take to his potential departure very lightly.

The report claims that Real Madrid have been quoted £30 million for Tierney, however it is unlikely that that will cut it given the £25 million fee Arsenal paid Celtic for the defender almost three years ago.

The Hoops will be hoping their former left-back makes the move to Spain as it is understood they included a sell-on clause in the deal that saw Tierney move south of the border.

The 24-year-old has made 16 league appearances this season after struggling with an ankle injury, but has been a staple in Arsenal’s side for most of his time in London.

The Gunners brought in Nuno Tavares as back-up to Tierney last summer but it is unlikely Mikel Arteta would want the Portuguese as his first choice.

It is unclear whether Tierney would want to join the La Liga club, but Arsenal will certainly be doing everything in their power to persuade the left-back to remain at the club this summer.
