Gareth Southgate has announced his England squad for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine with the international break beginning after this weekend’s domestic fixtures.

Arsenal are in Europa League action this evening as they welcome Sporting CP to the Emirates Stadium and will also host London rivals Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. Meanwhile, there is still plenty of transfer news going on behind the scenes as the rumour mill keeps turning. The Gunners have apparently received some boosts towards their summer recruitment with one major rival likely out of the race to land a much-discussed target and another player said to have indicated a preference for the club over the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid. Here are the latest Arsenal transfer news stories on Thursday, March 16:

PSG ‘can’t compete financially’ for Arsenal transfer target

According to Caught Offside, Paris Saint-Germain’s current financial situation means they would be unable to compete with Arsenal in the race to sign Moussa Diaby this summer. French football expert Jonathan Johnson believes the Bayern Leverkusen attacker would be far more likely to move to the Premier League than back to his old club.

It is claimed that Arsenal and Newcastle United are amongst the clubs most interested in the 23-year old and that he would cost somewhere in the region of £40 million (€40 million to €50 million). Johnson says that Leverkusen certainly wouldn’t let the player leave for anything less than €30 million and that PSG’s ‘financial constraints’ mean they are unlikely to be able to ‘to stump up the kind of money’.

La Liga ace indicates preference for Arsenal over Man Utd and Real Madrid

Per a report from Team Talk, via Spanish journalist Manu Sainz, Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga is most likely to join Arsenal if he leaves the La Liga club this summer. The 20-year-old is believed to be on the radar of several top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid and Manchester United but is said to have indicated a preference for the Gunners over any other team.

Sainz claims that Veiga ‘dreams’ of joining the North London club and a €35 million release clause could pave the way for a move in the next window. The player has been linked with both the Gunners and the Red Devils for the past few weeks across multiple publications with AS first breaking the news and Farizio Romano verifying it (according to Team Talk).
