Arsenal and Tottenham are said to have submitted interest in a current Premier League star as we move towards the halfway point of the January transfer window. The Gunners need an attacker amid a shortage up top, needing more goals while also adding some sort of depth out wide following the loss of Bukayo Saka to injury for the next couple of months.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are looking for any kind of reinforcement they can get their hands on given the injury crisis that has threatened to ruin their season. Spurs are currently 12th, struggling to find any sort of consistency, having to compromise with quality in a number of positions.

One of the latest rumours involves both Arsenal and Tottenham, who are both said to be interested in a deal for a centre midfielder.
Arsenal could do with a little more depth when it comes to Martin Odegaard’s spot, but a midfielder will not be at the top of their list this winter, given their needs at the top end of the pitch. Meanwhile, Tottenham do have some depth in the middle, with Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall all options.
In fact, it is one of the few areas of the field where Spurs have plenty of availability, but they are still being linked with a move for a midfielder playing elsewhere in the Premier League. Wolves star Joao Gomes is said to be of interest to the North London clubs and others, with Rudy Galetti claiming that both have been in contact over a possible deal, however unlikely it may be.
Galetti tweeted: “Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and ManUtd have recently asked fresh info on Joao Gomes. To date, Wolves are not open to considering selling him this transfer window: only a huge offer could change their mind.”

Hide AdGomes has impressed since his 2023 arrival from Flamengo, and it’s no surprise that Wolves will be very reluctant to sell given their proximity to the relegation zone, currently just goals above Ipswich Town in 18th spot. Gomes is currently under contract until 2028.
Richards on Gomes
Match of the Day pundit Micah Richards has given a glowing verdict of Gomes this season. “We have to give a quick shoutout to Gomes of Wolves,” he said on the Rest is Football podcast. “Oh my word, what a player he is by the way. I didn’t have the team-sheet and I didn’t have my glasses on and I was thinking, ‘who’s this guy?’ I couldn’t even see until I got my glasses on but Gomes, he is a player by the way.
“Obviously, we don’t get to see Wolves too much on TV. We see them on Match of the Day. Seeing him up close and personal, his touches, his anticipation when he’s winning the ball back and his weight of ball forward. Sorry Wolves fans, he’s going to the top that lad.”
