The free agent market holds a useful place for teams when they need to strengthen their squads to help with depth or experience in the dressing room. Injuries hit hard and that can cause selection dilemmas; free agents provide a short-term solution.
There are still several Premier League free agents available that have vast experience in the top division and across English football who could provide significant value to a team looking for help at that position.

Hide AdFormer Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal players remain available to teams if they want to make a move to improve their depth.
Goalkeepers: Loris Karius (Newcastle United), Darren Randolph (Bournemouth), Wayne Hennessey (Nottingham Forest)
Former Liverpool keeper Loris Karius remains available as a free agent after Newcastle United released him in June following his contract expiring. He had the role of backup keeper for the Magpies for two seasons where he made just two appearances. He will be most remembered for his Champions League final performance in 2018 when he made two big errors which led to Liverpool losing the final 3-1 to Real Madrid.
Furthermore, former Bournemouth and West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph is also a free agent after the Cherries released him in the summer. He has vast experience including 50 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
Full backs: Brandon Williams (Manchester United), Cedric Soares (Arsenal), Ryan Fredericks (Bournemouth)
Most notably of the defenders, 24-year-old Brandon Williams remains a free agent after his release from Old Trafford in the summer. He spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town, helping them to promotion to the Premier League. Williams made 21 appearances for United after coming through the academy.

Hide AdFormer Arsenal and Southampton defender Cedric Soares is a free agent after his release in the summer. He has over 340 career appearances including six Champions League games for both Arsenal and Sporting CP.
Centre backs: Nathan Ferguson and James Tomkins (Crystal Palace), Paul Dummett (Newcastle)
Former Palace pair Ferguson and Tomkins remain free agents with Ferguson the real surprise due to his age of just 24 years old. The former West Brom defender has suffered several injury problems in his young career but could be worth taking a chance on for free.
Midfielders: Jeff Hendrick (Newcastle), Cheick Kouyate (Nottingham Forest), Dele Alli (Everton)
Former Newcastle, Burnley and Derby County midfielder Hendrick is available and has a vast amount of experience in English football. The 32-year-old has over 450 career appearances and still has plenty left in the tank.
Furthermore, former Palace, West Ham and Forest midfielder Cheick Kouyate is also available having had plenty of experience in the Premier League. The defensive midfielder has over 290 Premier League games under his belt and could be handy for a team who are battling relegation. He was considered by Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United but they opted against signing him.

Hide AdEx-Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli remains without a contract but is training with Everton still after his deal expired at Goodison Park. The Toffees are reportedly open to the idea of re-signing him once he gets his fitness back up. His last competitive outing was for Besiktas in February 2023.
