Arsenal target was ‘keen’ on move and possible January transfer touted

The transfer window has slammed shut and Arsenal will be heading to January with the squad they currently have at their disposal.

Mikel Arteta’s side have made a perfect start to the new Premier League season and have picked up five wins from their opening five games.

They are back in action this weekend away at Manchester United as they look to make it six victories on the spin.

Douglas Luiz wanted move

Arsenal were reportedly trying to sign Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz on transfer deadline day.

The Gunners wanted to lure the midfielder away from Villa Park on the final day of the transfer window but ultimately failed in their pursuit of the ex-Manchester City man.

As per a report by The Guardian, he was ‘keen’ on the move to the Emirates Stadium but Villa wouldn’t let him go.

January target emerges already

Arteta’s side could apparently make a January move for Palmeiras midfielder Danilo.

The Brazilian may be seen as an alternative to Luiz in the next window.

According to the Independent, the London club are ‘still talking’ to the player and this is one to keep an eye on when winter arrives.

Arteta on Bellerin

The Arsenal boss has thanked Hector Bellerin for his services.

He has left for a new chapter in his career at Barcelona.

His old teammate and manager has said, as per the official club website:

“We today say goodbye to Hector and we thank him so much for his loyalty and commitment to Arsenal Football Club. During his 11 years with Arsenal, Hector won three FA Cups and made nearly 250 appearances – such a huge contribution to the club.
