Striker latest

Arsenal were reportedly keen on signing striker Loic Openda from their upcoming Champions League opponents Lens in the last transfer window as they eyed attacking reinforcements. However, the attacker ended up joining Bundesliga side RB Leipzig over the summer instead.

In this latest update regarding his situation, reporter Philipp Hinze of Sky Germany has reported on social media that the player has a ‘release clause’ in his contract worth £70million. However, it can only be struck in 2025 meaning the Gunners may have to wait a while before they are able to lure him to the Emirates Stadium, unless they splash some serious cash in the meantime.

Contract update

Arsenal want to tie up a new deal for defender Ben White. The England international has been an important player for Arteta since joining from fellow top flight outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest news regarding his situation with the London outfit in his column with CaughtOffside: “As reported on Sunday, Arsenal are now working to extend Ben White’s contract. He’s the next player on their list after the recent new deal for Martin Odegaard, and for other important players like Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli in recent months.

“Precisely when talks will happen I don’t know, it’s not something that sources want to share so we have to wait and see. But Arsenal’s plan is clear, they want White to sign new contract so negotiations will continue for sure.

“White has been a big success at Arsenal but we’re yet to see him replicate that on the international stage. Still, I’m sure he will have chance to be part of England regular team soon as he’s very good in different positions, proper modern defender. I’m a big fan of how he’s performed for Arsenal so I’m sure he’ll get that chance to do it for his country as well.”
