Arsenal ‘send scouts’ to watch Premier League star they have been ‘tracking for several months’

Arsenal are said to have scouted one of their ‘long-term targets’ ahead of the January transfer window.

Arsenal are still said to be keeping an eye on one of their ‘long-term targets’, according to a report.

The Gunners enjoyed a busy summer transfer window, spending more than £200million to bolster their ranks with the signings of Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, David Raya and others. Those investments seem to be paying off early in the campaign, albeit Timber suffered a near-season-ending injury early in the campaign.

A comfortable win over Bournemouth over the weekend means Arsenal are within a point of leaders and reigning champions Manchester City ahead of going up against Pep Guardiola’s men this weekend.

Arsenal also have Wolves to thank for that, with Gary O’Neill’s men defeating City over the weekend, and winger Pedro Neto has been key to the Midlands side’s improved performances so far this season.

Neto has one goal and four assists in his first seven games of the season, and it’s no secret that Arsenal are admirers of the 23-year-old. Arsenal were linked in the summer, but they decided not to sign a winger despite having to rely heavily upon Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka last season.

But according to 90min, the Gunners are still keeping a close eye on Neto, sending scouts to watch his impressive performance against City over the weeken, while they have also scouted him a number of other times over recent months.

It’s claimed Aston Villa are also keeping an eye on the Portuguese star, while Atletico Madrid are also said to be keen.

Wolves signed Neto for around £15million from Lazio in 2019 and it’s likely they would demand somewhere North of £50million to sell their star winger in January with a contract in place until 2027.
