In the 2023/24 season, Aaron Ramsdale's status as a peripheral figure in the Arsenal squad has grown more apparent with each passing game. Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta has shown he prefers new signing David Raya, relegating Ramsdale to appearances in cup games as a result.

With Arsenal's 2-0 FA Cup defeat against Liverpool on Sunday, they won't play another cup game until February 21, when they take on Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League. With minimal playing time on the horizon, Ramsdale could force a move away from the club to get what he wants, according to a report from the Daily Express.

Last season, Ramsdale played every minute of every Premier League game for the Gunners - in the current campaign, he has featured in just five of Arsenal's fixtures in England's top division, keeping two clean sheets. Raya, meanwhile, has played in 15 Premier League games so far this season.

Who is thought to be interested in a transfer move for Aaron Ramsdale?

Currently, there do not seem to be any major club who are actively interested in a move for the former Sheffield United shot-stopper. Previously, Chelsea and Newcastle United had been linked with a move for Ramsdale, but their interest appears to have gone cold since then.

Despite this, the Toon are thought to be in the hunt for a new goalkeeper, following an injury sustained by Nick Pope - as such, it would not be surprising to see the revive their efforts to bring Ramsdale to St. James' Park in the January transfer window.

Arsenal may also be tempted to move Ramsdale on to offset the fees they paid in the summer. The Gunners are wishing to bring players on board in January, but they will need to sell players first - the 25-year-old could be sacrificed to this end.
